Discipline and...Publish
I hope this issue's contents will satisfy and unsettle you as they have me.
As the managing editor of Heterodox Academy (HxA), I’m excited to share with you eight great new think pieces plus an academic-freedom-inspired recipe in the second issue of HxA’s quarterly periodical, inquisitive, now live.
The theme for this issue is “Discipline,” and I hope the contents will satisfy and unsettle you as they have me.
We bring you Tom Ginsburg explaining the dangers of “undisciplined disciplines,” Martha McCaughey offering scholar-optimism as an alternative to scholar-activism, Nadine Strossen considering the strength of David Rabban’s novel theory of academic freedom, and Aron Sousa and Chelsea Wentworth responding to the Kalven Report with earwax.
We also have Kathryn Lynch on how she became a “woman” (it’s not what you think), Colleen Eren on how criminology got so left, Paul Vasey on what an inscrutable, highly-disciplined, Japanese cross-dressing ritual tells us about western Anthropology, and Ivan Oransky and Adam Marcus on why retraction has become “the discipline of last resort.”
Finally, we feature that recipe from the distinguished and disciplined couple of Carmen Wilson and Joe Gow.
